Salt Chlorination is another method of chlorinating your pool.
How does it work? Salt's technical name is Sodium Chloride and when this is passed through an electrolytic cell the sodium gets separated from the chlorine. This chlorine portion can now go off and form either hypochlorous acid or hypochlorite ion depending on your pH. Depending on your salt water chlorinator you need a salt reading of between 0.3% and 0.7%. These levels are between one fifth to one tenth the level of salt in sea water. If very hot weather places to great a demand on chlorine liquid chlorine must be added.
