| STABILIZER SHOULD ONLY BE USED IN OUTDOOR POOLS AND BE 30-50 ppm: Chlorine is at the mercy of the sun. The sun warm the water we swim in but sucks the chlorine out of our pools at a rate of 33% per hour. This means if we add chlorine at say 7.00 am, after four more hours of sunlight, at 11.00 am, there will only be 20% of the chlorine left. After 6 hours only 10% will be left. This means your pool is left unsanitised for the rest of the day. This is where stabilizer fits in. Stabilizer is technically known as cyanuric acid, but frequently referred to as sunscreen. Stabilizer is a white granular product and dissolves very slowly, sometimes taking 5 days. The best way to add stabilizer is to place it in a stocking and suspend it over a pool return, as the filter operates the stabilizer will slowly dissolve. |
